We’re upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new Eastern Busway, smart technology and a connection to North East Link – slashing travel times and improving travel in Melbourne’s east.

What we're doing

Ahead of major construction we're building safe construction areas to support works on the Eastern Freeway Upgrades. To keep construction traffic off local streets, we'll build work site access points from the freeway.

To facilitate these works, we're relocating power and sewer services and removing overhead freeway gantries.

We're also rolling out traffic barriers between Middleborough Road and Springvale Road to safely separate work areas from motorists. We'll work at night to keep traffic moving freely.
