28 November 2025

We’re working on both sides of Bulleen Road as tunnelling continues on North East Link.

What we'll be doing

Excluding the end of year shutdown period, activities to support tunnelling works will take place 24/7. During this time, we’ll aim to minimise noise and light impacts away from your property as much as possible.

Oversize deliveries

We'll be delivering large pre-cast panel beams that will form part of the southern ventilation structure and roof of the tunnel.

Deliveries will occur between 11pm and 5am Mondays to Fridays, with up to 6 deliveries each night.

Most deliveries will arrive from the Eastern Freeway and Bulleen Road before entering our work site off Bulleen Road near the Carey Sports Complex.

Managing construction impacts

Throughout our works, you may experience noise, light, dust, and vibration. We manage these impacts through real time monitoring, water carts and street sweepers, targeted lighting, and reducing noise and vibration within the construction zone.

You may notice workers on local streets capturing photos as part of our ongoing management of these impacts. We do this in conjunction with our modelling to ensure we have an accurate understanding of how these impacts may be felt in different areas. We will notify you before capturing any photos that include your property and we are happy to provide these photos upon request.

You may also see workers machinery in place, in and around construction areas, workers completing surveys in local streets and an increase of trucks removing dirt from our worksites.

To stay safe, please follow all instructions from signage and traffic controllers. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these works.

Upcoming disruptions across North East Link Program

Freeways, interchanges, and roads are starting to take shape above ground while tunnelling continues underground. Traffic disruptions are expected from Greensborough to the Eastern Freeway this December and January.

Upcoming disruptions include:

  • Doncaster Road Ringwood-bound exit ramp and High Street at the intersection of Doncaster Road closed until 5am, Monday 15 December for Doncaster Road bridge works
  • Eastern Freeway will be closed between Bulleen and Doncaster roads from the night of the 6 December until the morning of 8 December as we complete critical asphalting works
  • Eastern Freeway will also be closed between Bulleen and Middleborough roads in early January for up to 5 days as we demolish the existing Doncaster Road bridge
  • Grimshaw Street will be closed between Macorna Street and Watsonia Road until mid December to build the western foundations for the new Grimshaw Street Interchange
  • Greensborough Highway closed in sections early 2026 to install the new Nell Street pedestrian and cycling bridge and remove the old one

We’re working hard to minimise disruptions to the local community. Please plan ahead and allow additional travel time

Changes to Manningham and Bulleen roads

As part of construction of the future Manningham Road interchange, from late January, eastbound traffic will be moved back onto Manningham Road, with three lanes in each direction.

To safely complete these works, there will be lane and road closures across Manningham Road, Bulleen Road and Bridge Street throughout January.

Delays of up to 60 minutes are expected during this time. Bridge Street will also be closed to through traffic from 19 January, with local access maintained for residents and businesses via Bulleen Road.

End of year shutdown

While most of our construction activities will stop from Friday 19 December to Monday 12 January, you may notice some works still occurring on our sites and underground at times.

Tunnelling activities will resume from Friday 2 January.

During this time, we’ll aim to minimise noise and light impacts away from your property as much as possible.
