Works are progressing across all our sites, with new bridges and major interchanges continuing to take shape along the freeway.

Construction snapshot

Works are powering ahead at Doncaster Road interchange as we prepare to demolish the existing Doncaster Road bridge in January.

The new Estelle Street bridge is now open to walkers and cyclists, with the new Heyington Avenue bridge set to open by the end of the year.

Over in Bulleen, massive steel girders are being lifted into place, gradually forming the flyovers that will connect to the North East Link tunnels.

Our sites and Project Information Centre will shut down over the break from 20 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.

When are we working?

• Day works - 6am to 7pm from Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm Saturdays and Sundays
• Night works - 6pm to 7am from Monday to Saturday
• Day / night works at times during day and night works hours
• 24 24-hour works (at times) - Notification provided before works

We use water carts and noise mitigation measures wherever possible to reduce dust and noise while we work. We'll be in touch with impacted residents regarding specific times for construction activities and to offer support.

Upcoming disruptions in Bulleen

As part of construction of the future Manningham Road interchange, from late January, eastbound traffic will be moved back onto Manningham Road, with three lanes in each direction.

To safely complete these works, there will be lane and road closures across Manningham Road, Bulleen Road and Bridge Street throughout January.

Delays of up to 60 minutes are expected during this time. Bridge Street will also be closed to through traffic from 19 January 2026, with local access maintained for residents and businesses via Bulleen Road.

Upcoming disruptions

• Eastern Freeway closed in both directions between Doncaster Road and Middleborough Road from 10pm Wednesday 7 January to 5am Monday 12 January
• Doncaster Road citybound entry ramp closed from 10pm Wednesday 7 January to 5am Friday 23 January
• Middleborough Road citybound entry ramp closed for a weekend in early February
