We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to North East Link.

What we're doing

To support construction of new overhead structures, noise walls and a walking and cycling underpass near Viewpoint Road, we'll need to complete some works at the Bulleen Road city-bound exit ramp.

From 9pm Friday 27 June to 5am Monday 30 June 2025, we’ll work round the clock on the Bulleen Road city-bound exit ramp to realign the ramp slightly, creating space to safely continue works on the southern side of the freeway.

During this time the Bulleen Road city-bound exit ramp will be closed with detours of up to 20 minutes in place via major roads.

Over the weekend closure, we'll complete pavement works on the ramp to ensure motorists are driving on a smooth road surface when traffic returns to the ramp.

As works progress, additional night works may be required. We’ll ensure residents receive advanced notification of these works.

Where and when

What to expect

During these works you'll notice:

• closure of the Bulleen Road citybound exit ramp
• nightly lane closures and speed reductions on the freeway and Bulleen Road
• traffic delays of up to 20 minutes with traffic controllers and signage in place to guide motorists around our works
• construction vehicles, machinery, equipment and workers in the area
• low to medium levels of noise from machinery and equipment associated with pavement, profiling, asphalting and line marking works, as well as moderate levels of vibration
• use of directional lighting

Managing impacts

We carefully manage our works in line with the project's strict environmental performance requirements including:

• scheduling noisier works early in the evening, where possible
• monitoring noise levels with real time monitoring, when required
• minimising light spill with targeted lighting
• working behind barriers to keep our workers and road users safe
