We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to the North East Link.

What we're doing

As part of our planning for upcoming works, we'll carry out site investigations during the day and night using nondestructive digging machinery with a high pressure hose.

Day works will take place along Ayr Street between High Street and Glenfern Avenue, and along Timber Ridge between Ayr Street and St Malo Avenue. Night works will take place at the intersection of Ayr Street and High Street.

To complete works safely, we'll need to close Ayr Street at High Street overnight. Residents on Ayr Street will always have access to their homes via local detours and assistance from traffic controllers. Please follow signage and see map overleaf for details.

When we'll work

Day: On Wednesday 30 April and Thursday 1 May, between 9pm and 6am each night, at the Ayr Street and High Street intersection.

Night: From Monday 5 May until late May, between 7am and 6pm, along Ayr Street between High Street and Glenfern Avenue, and along Timber Ridge between Ayr Street and St Malo Avenue.

What to expect

• Ayr Street will be closed at High Street in both directions overnight on Wednesday 30 April and Thursday 1 May
• Traffic will be reduced to a single lane along Ayr Street and Timber Ridge under stop and slow conditions during the day
• Driveway and residential access will be maintained via local detours
• Traffic controllers and directional signage in place to help guide you through the area
• Construction vehicles, machinery and workers in the area
• Medium levels of noise from machinery and equipment
• Use of directional lighting for work areas.

Managing impacts

We carefully manage our works in line with the project's strict environmental performance requirements including:

• Maintaining driveway access for residents during works
• Scheduling noisier works early in the evening, where possible
• Monitoring noise levels with real time monitoring, when required
• Minimising light spill with targeted lighting
• Working behind barriers to keep our workers and road users safe.
