29 April 2025
We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to the North East Link.
What we're doing
As part of works to build the new Doncaster Road interchange, Telstra will work during the day to relocate an underground telecommunications service on Paul Street between Kingsnorth Street and High Street.
Works involve service investigations using a high-pressure hose and an underground boring machine to install the new Telstra service beneath the road. The team will work in stages, setting up entry and exit points for the boring machine along Paul Street.
To complete works safely, Telstra will need to close Paul Street at the High Street intersection during the day. Residents will always have access to their homes via local detours along Ayr Street and Kingsnorth Street and assistance from traffic controllers. Please follow signage and see map overleaf for details.
When we'll work
Day: From early May to early June, between 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturdays
- Paul Street between Kingsnorth Street and High Street
What to expect
- Paul Street will be closed at High Street during the day from early May to early June
- Residents can access Paul Street via the detour along Ayr Street and Kingsnorth Street
- Traffic will be reduced to a single lane along some sections of Paul Street during the day
- Driveway and residential access will be maintained via local detours
- Traffic controllers and directional signage in place to help guide you through the area
- Construction vehicles, machinery and workers in the area
- Medium levels of noise from machinery and equipment
Paul Street at High Street: Both directions closed
Managing impacts
We carefully manage our works in line with the project's strict environmental performance requirements including:
- Maintaining driveway access for residents during works
- Monitoring noise and vibration levels with real time monitoring, when required
- Preventing dust and water runoff with environmental controls
- Working behind barriers to keep our workers and road users safe
If you have any concerns about these impacts, please contact the project team on 1800 105 105 any time.
