We’re upgrading the Eastern Freeway, building Melbourne’s first dedicated express busway and upgrading the Doncaster Park and Ride.

What we're doing

As part of works to build the new Doncaster Road interchange, we'll work at night to remove the centre median traffic island and upgrade traffic signals along Doncaster Road and the intersection of Doncaster Road and High Street

Works involve saw cutting, kerb removal, excavation, re-asphalting, line marking, placement of crushed rock and service investigations using a high-pressure hose.

To complete works safely, there will be nightly speed reductions and lane closures along Doncaster Road, High Street and the Ringwood-bound exit ramp.

When we'll work

From Thursday 27 February until late March 2025, between 7pm and 6am, Monday to Saturday.

What to expect

• Saw cutting, installing barriers and digging to remove the centre median traffic island and access traffic signal pits.
• Placement of crushed rock to temporarily reinstate areas that have been worked on.
• Construction vehicles, trucks and workers in the area.
• Traffic controllers and directional signage to help you through the area.
• Noise, light towers, vibration and dust from machinery and equipment.

The project’s environment team will actively monitor and manage these construction impacts to ensure best practice is applied throughout construction.

Managing impacts

We carefully manage our works in line with the project's strict environmental performance requirements including:

• Scheduling noisier works early in the evening, where possible
• Monitoring noise and vibration levels with real time monitoring, when required
• Minimising light spill with targeted lighting
• Preventing dust and water runoff with environmental controls
• Working behind barriers to keep our workers and road users safe
