15 January 2026

We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to North East Link.

What we're doing

To make way for the Eastern Freeway Upgrades at the Doncaster Road interchange, we're relocating water assets here and building a 4m wide x 2m high x 7m deep Pressure Reducing Station in Timber Ridge Reserve, Doncaster. A Pressure Reducing Station is a system that manages and stabilises water pressure before it is distributed through the network.

As previously notified, the site location considers the safety of park users, proximity to existing infrastructure and maintenance access. Along with community feedback, the site location and facility design was determined in consultation with Yarra Valley Water as the asset owner and Manningham Council as the landowner.

From January 2026, we'll work in Timber Ridge to:

  • pour a concrete slab for the new Pressure Reducing Station
  • excavate and install underground pipes and water fittings
  • install above-ground water fittings and acoustic coverings over the new system
  • landscape and plant around the new system with small trees and vegetation.
