14 April 2026
We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to North East Link.
What we're doing
In late 2025, we upgraded the local water network by installing water mains in Ayr Street and Timber Ridge, Doncaster. From Wednesday, 15 April to Friday 17 April, we'll close sections of Ayr Street and Timber Ridge, during the day to complete road resurfacing and finishing works.
Access for residents will be maintained with traffic controllers in place to assist. There will be no on-street parking from 7am to 6pm while works take place within the closed road sections and along the bus detour route.
The Pressure Reducing Station worksite at Timber Ridge will remain closed while the project finalises construction and design details with the local water authority. We expect construction to restart in late April 2026.
There will be partial closures of Ayr Street at the following locations:
- Between Norweena Street and Rhonda Street (the roundabout at Nola Street will remain open for detouring traffic).
- Intersection of Glenda Street and Ayr Street.
- Between Willow Bend and Outhwaite Avenue (the roundabout at Willow Bend will remain open for detouring traffic).
- Between Parkview Place and Kingsnorth Street on Ayr Street.
- Intersection of High Street and Ayr Street.
Timber Ridge will be closed between Ayr Street and just past Marilyn Street near the Pressure Reducing Station location.
Changes to bus route 280 and 282
- During works, there will be temporary bus stop closures on Ayr Street between Norweena Street and Glenda Street.
- Bus detours will be in place around local streets and will move as each closure area progresses. Buses will detour via Park Avenue, Outhwaite Avenue, Hillingdon Crescent, Glenda Street, Rhonda Street, Willow Bend, Tobruk Street and Westwood Drive.
- Signage will be installed at the closed bus stops to clearly advise bus patrons of the nearest bus stop.
Where and when
- Day works: 7am to 6pm Wednesday to Friday.
What to expect
