We’re building the new Grimshaw Street Interchange in Greensborough, with express lanes to the North East Link and less congestion for locals.

Major works on Grimshaw Street continues in November and December. Grimshaw Street will close in both directions between Frye Street and Greensborough Bypass, with crews working 24/7 to build the west side of the interchange.

While major works continue at the Grimshaw Street Interchange, crews will also be working nearby in Kempston Street. In late October and November, beams will be delivered and installed for the new Kempston Street bridge, requiring overnight road closures of Kempston Street.

What we’ll be doing

As part of these upgrades, a works area will be set up on Grimshaw Street, between Frye Street and the Greensborough Bypass.

Activities in this area will include:

• placing traffic barriers, fencing and lighting to establish temporary works areas
• demolition, excavation and drilling works
• installing large concrete beams on Kempston Street bridge overnight with road closures in place
• installing of concrete culverts
• piling and pouring concrete to build new road bridge foundations and retaining walls
• installing and connecting new drainage, smart transport systems, traffic signals, lighting and other utilities
• laying asphalt, line marking, and concrete to reinstate road and paths

What to expect

As we do these works you may notice:

• varying levels of noise, light, dust and intermittent vibration during work hours
• materials and equipment deliveries to and from works areas, including out-of-hours via local roads
• AK Lines Reserve site compound operations
• changed traffic conditions on Grimshaw Street and local roads and footpaths
• detours of bus routes 566 and 902.
