29 April 2026
We’re building the new M80 Ring Road Interchange with express lanes to the North East Link tunnels, taking 15,000 trucks a day off local roads.
These upgrades will help ease congestion, take traffic off local streets and make everyday trips quicker and safer. As part of this work, new bridges over Kempston Street will be built to support the improved road network.
What we are doing
From 5am, Wednesday 29 April to 5pm, Friday 5 June, Kempston Street will be closed in both directions between Sellars Street and Hamlet Street, with vehicle and pedestrian detours in place.
This closure will enable us to demolish the existing Greensborough Bypass bridge over Kempston Street and build a new one that meets modern standards.
There will be parking restrictions in place at times on Sellars Street (between Huntley Street and Frye Street) and Kempston Street (between Boyd Street and Laura Court).
From 9pm, Friday 1 May to 5am, Monday 4 May, the Greensborough Bypass will be closed between Grimshaw Street and the M80 Ring Road Interchange, with detours in place.
To keep community moving, there'll be changes in the way you travel as we shift traffic to the outer lanes of the Greensborough Bypass.
How this will affect you
- Increase in trucks, machinery, noise, light, dust and intermittent vibration
- On-street parking will not be available at times
