We’re completing the M80 Ring Road, delivering new lanes from Plenty Road to Watsonia, including a seamless connection to the North East Link tunnels, taking up to 15,000 trucks off local roads.

Since May, we've been busy building the new Elder Street landscaped bridge. During this time, we've moved traffic and pedestrians away from the intersection to safely complete the works, and we thank the community for their patience.

We recently moved pedestrians onto the bridge and are temporarily relocating the Watsonia Station bus loop from late November.

In early December, the new Elder Street landscaped bridge will open to traffic in all directions. This will restore vehicle access across Greensborough Highway and allow us to remove the temporary U-turn.

What you need to know

In order to prepare the bridge for traffic, there will be overnight and weekend road closures throughout November and early December.

How this will affect you

While we work, expect some delays and temporary changes on Greensborough Highway, Elder Street and Watsonia Road, including overnight closures and daytime lane closures.

There will also be temporary changes to access to Watsonia Station and on-street parking on Elder Street. You may notice more trucks and machinery, noise, light, dust and occasional vibration.

Access to the Watsonia Road shops will be maintained. Once the bridge opens to traffic, it will restore vehicle access across Greensborough Highway and allow us to remove the temporary U-turn.

We’ll provide more information about the timing of these works as soon as dates are confirmed.

Please follow signs and traffic controllers, plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
