Stages of piling

Drilling the hole

Using an auger attachment (a corkscrew-shaped drill), the piling rig will drill circular holes between 15 to 35 metres deep into the ground to create a bore (hole).

Steel reinforcement

Once the bore has reached the required depth, a full-length cylindrical steel cage is lowered into the bore to secure and reinforce the pile.

Concrete fill

Concrete is then poured into the cage to set the pile structure. Stages 1 to 3 will be repeated 268 times around the perimeter of the station box.

Capping beam

After all the piles are complete, we will excavate the ground, crop the top of the piles and pour in a layer of concrete to connect all of the piles together.
