When we’ll be working

We’ll continue to work at the project site compound until end of May 2026 Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm and Saturday, 7am to 1pm A night shift is scheduled for Saturday 28 February 2026.

As major West Gate Tunnel Project construction works in the area have been completed, we are moving out of the project site compound on Whitehall Street in Yarraville.

These works include demobilisation of temporary site sheds, above ground demolition of buildings and structures, concrete and asphalt removal and site rectification works.

What to expect

• You may notice an increase in noise from concrete cutting and breaking, vehicle movements, and other construction activities.
• This will include the use of jack hammers, profilers and excavators to remove concrete and rock, which will be loaded onto trucks and transported off site.
• A large crane will be on site to lift and remove the worker footbridge over Somerville Road.
• The site will be returned to the landowners as it was prior to the project lease.

Somerville Road Closure

To safely remove the worker footbridge, Somerville Road will be closed east of Whitehall Street from:

• 12pm Saturday 28 February to 6am Sunday 1 March 2026
• Access for local Somerville Road businesse p;only has been arranged via the project compound
• Pedestrian and cycling access along Whitehall Street and Somerville Road will be maintained during closure. Travel disruptions are shown overleaf and on Victoria’s Big Build website.
