Building the new elevated road and veloway
What is happening?
Work is continuing along Footscray Road to build a new elevated road and veloway for the West Gate Tunnel Project. Following earlier work, a second batch of large steel beams will be delivered to our work site, requiring the use of oversized vehicles. We need a combination of eastbound and full closures of Footscray Road to safely deliver and install the beams.
Once in place, these beams will span Footscray Road to support the new elevated road.
What to expect and when
From Wednesday 19 October through to Monday 24 October 2022, eastbound and full road closures of Footscray Road will be required periodically for the installation of the second batch of steel beams along Footscray Road, between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road.
Detour options are listed within the notification and there will be VMS messaging and on-road signage to guide road users during the closures.
