Building the new elevated road and veloway
What is happening?
Work is continuing along Footscray Road to build a new elevated road and veloway for the West Gate Tunnel Project. Following earlier work, another batch of large steel beams will be delivered to our work site, requiring the use of oversized vehicles. We will need full closures of Footscray Road to safely deliver and install the beams.
Once in place, these beams will span Footscray Road to support the new elevated road.
What to expect and when
From Friday 4 November through to Monday 14 November 2022, there are due to be weekend closures of Footscray Road for the installation of the next batch of steel beams along Footscray Road, between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road.
Detour options are listed within the notification and there will be VMS messaging and on-road signage to guide road users during the closures. This work may be subject to change - visit Victoria's Big Build Disruptions for the latest information.
