Building the new Hyde Street ramps across the Williamstown Road interchange
From Monday 17 April 2023 to mid-2023, the West Gate Tunnel Project will continue to build the new Hyde Street ramps across the Williamstown Road interchange.
As works continue, you can expect to see:
- General construction activities such as patching, grouting, pouring concrete, and painting.
- Installation of pedestal and bearings, fire main, guardrail and handrails.
- Installation of beams and anti-throw screens above Williamstown Road.
- General bridge construction activities and works to prepare for installation of new overhead freeway gantries.
Please note, this work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.
During these works, we’ll need to close the Williamstown Road interchange and freeway ramps on various nights so we can work safely above the road. On-road signs will be in place to advise of detours, and traffic management will be in place to help you get around our work areas safely.
These works will help to reduce overall traffic disruptions in the future making for a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
The dates, times, and detour routes of the closures will be confirmed via our weekly traffic email. You may notice some intermittent night-time construction noise as we continue carrying out these works.
