When we'll be working

  • 7 February to mid-April 2024
  • Alternating day and night shifts
  • 7am-5pm and 9pm-9am
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays

What we’ll be doing

Bridge structure works The team will be refurbishing the existing steel beams of the Newport Rail Bridge within the rail corridor.

This involves the use of high-pressure hoses and spray coating to repair and strengthen the existing bridge columns.

This is noisy work and will take place during day and night shift to complete the works as quickly as possible.Noise curtains will be used around the work areas to decrease the noise levels, however the noise from these works may travel to the wider community within the area. Noise modelling will be  conducted, and we will be in touch directly with residents before and during the works where higher than normal construction noise levels are expected.

Whilst the team will be aiming to create little disruption, works will need to be completed during both day and night shifts, to work with train scheduling. Access to all properties and sporting clubs will be maintained.

Once this work is complete, the team will continue with painting of the bridge structure and beams.

What to expect

  • Noise during the day and at night from high-pressure equipment.
  • Lights angled away from homes during night hours.
  • Construction activity and vehicles moving in and out of the area.

Please note, the timing of this work may change due to site and weather conditions.
