When we’ll be working
We’ll be working from 7pm to 5am, over three nights from Monday 13 May to Wednesday 15 May 2024.
What we’ll be doing
Construction on the West Gate Tunnel Project continues to progress at the Northern Portal and surrounding areas.
The next phase of works will include installing and connecting new sewerage infrastructure in the 107-109 Whitehall Street business precinct.
In response to stakeholder feedback and to minimise impacts to local businesses, the works will be carried out overnight.
A work site will be set up each night at the east end of the precinct’s private road off Whitehall Street, where the existing sewer line is to be connected to new sewerage infrastructure.
What to expect
Upcoming traffic changes and impacts
The eastern section of the private road will be closed at night from from 7pm to 5am between 13–15 May. Please refer to traffic flow map overleaf.
The road will be open and be accessible to vehicles at all other times during the day.
Minimal construction noise and odour
Road excavation works may be noisy at times. We’ll do our best to manage this noise impact.
The excavation site will be backfilled and covered at the end of each shift which will help reduce any odour impacts. It’s anticipated that odours will be minimal.
Upcoming road establishment works from Lyons Street
Works between Youell Street and Lyons Street to build the area near the tunnel connection and the bridge over the Maribyrnong River continues. These works will include asphalting and roadworks at the end of Lyons Street and Youell Street.
Surrounding properties will continue to be updated as these works progress.
