The West Gate Tunnel Project team has been set up on Frederick Street over the last week, undertaking verification drilling. We now need to carry out a seismic survey to confirm ground conditions. The process involves safely striking the ground, then analysing seismic waves sensed by receivers.
To carry out the testing, we are due to close Frederick Street between Stephen Street and Hyde Street between 7am–5pm on 30 June 2023.
As is consistent for all our tunnelling activities, we have ground monitoring devices that provide regular information across the whole tunnel alignment.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause residents. Access to your property will be maintained
with the assistance of traffic controllers.
