Reinstating roads and footpaths at the ends of local streets, Millers Rd interchange works
From early June 2022 until July 2023, the West Gate Tunnel Project will carry out remaining works along freeway verges to reinstate roads and footpaths at the ends of local streets between Newport Rail and Grieve Parade.
Works will include landscaping, maintenance track and footpath construction, drainage, kerbing, barrier installation, road re-surfacing, asphalting, freeway technology system works, rectification works, fencing, noise wall installation, the removal of temporary noise walls, demolition works and other minor works.
Works are also continuing in the Millers Road precinct – intermittent road, ramp and lane closures will be required at times. Sign up to the weekly traffic email for confirmed dates and times, see below for details.

We need to close the freeway end of the following streets for short periods to complete these works:
- Kyle Road
- Michael Court
- Wally Court
- Beevers Street
- Irwin Avenue
- Rosala Avenue
- Misten Court
- Freemans Road
- Buchanan Road
- Lynch Road
- Carlsson Court
- Richards Court
- Houston Court
- Waites Court
- Cawley Road.

We will send impacted residents a reminder at least five days before we start works when a required section of the road to be closed.
Driveway access will be restricted for a small number of households within the work areas. Details will be confirmed with these households directly.
Freeway verge works are scheduled to take place between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Please note, works may be rescheduled, and dates are subject to change.
What you can expect during the works
- Direct contact from the project team if there are changes to your driveway access, or if you are expected to be highly impacted by night time construction noise.
- Work completed behind safety barriers with construction vehicles accessing work areas.
- Increased construction activity and vehicles in the area.
- Access to households / pedestrian bridge will be maintained.
Water-spray trucks and road sweepers used in the local streets around our worksites. - Ongoing noise wall and freeway technology system works along the edges of the freeway – including overnight works.
