Overnight closures for resurfacing works - Williamstown Road under the West Gate Freeway
The West Gate Tunnel Project is due to put the final layer of asphalt and do other construction activities along Williamstown Road.
When we’ll be working
We’ll be working nightly from Monday 20 November to mid-December.
Work hours are:
- Monday to Thursday, 8pm to 6am,
- Friday to Saturday, 8pm to 8am.
The West Gate Tunnel Project is due to put the final layer of asphalt and do other construction activities along Williamstown Road.
What we'll be doing
We’ll be putting the final layer of asphalt on the road between Thomas Street and The Avenue, including the merging lane, at night.
To do these works safely, at various times, we’ll need to close:
- Lanes along Williamstown Road.
- Williamstown Road freeway entry and exit ramps
- Williamstown Road southbound/northbound.
Impacts
- Construction activity and vehicles moving in and out of the area including profilers, rollers, water, and asphalt trucks.
- Lighting will be angled away from homes whenever possible when we’re working at night.
- Pedestrians will be managed through any closures.
- Any vehicle entering and exiting impacted driveway will be managed through the closure.
- Intermittent low to medium-level noise at night.
- Changes to the way you travel
- While roads and ramps are closed, detours will be in place, so follow the on-road signs and drive carefully.
- There will also be temporary line markings on the roads to guide your journey.
- These impacts are expected add up to 10 minutes of travel time, so plan ahead.
When driving through these areas, please follow traffic signage and check traffic media reports. This work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.
