3 September 2021 to 31 December 2022
Closure of left turn lane on the Williamstown Road exit ramp (westbound)
From Friday 17 September until Monday 18 October, the West Gate Tunnel Project will be closing the left turn lane on the Williamstown Road exit ramp (westbound). This means traffic that would ordinarily exit the West Gate Freeway at this location to travel towards Williamstown will not be able to turn left on to Melbourne Road.
This is so we can safely carry out works to re-build and construct additional lanes on the exit ramp. We will also install new drainage and continue works to build the Hyde Street ramp. Closing the left turn lane and working 24/7 means we can complete the works faster and minimise the length of disruptions in the area.
Please note, the right turn lanes from the ramp on to Williamstown Road heading to Yarraville will still be available during the day, with occasional overnight closures.
Detours will be in place (see map for details). Motorists should allow up to 20 minutes additional travel time during peak periods. Please follow all traffic management / detour signage.
