Night time resurfacing works at the interchange and cladding replacement at the Rosala Ave overpass ramps
The West Gate Tunnel Project is planning the following works:
- Night time resurfacing and finishing works at the Millers Road interchange requiring overnight closures of the interchange, freeway ramps, and Primula Avenue; and
- Cladding replacement on the Rosala Avenue overpass ramps.
Please note, this work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.
Millers Road completion works
The Millers Road interchange, freeway ramps and Primula Avenue (at Millers Road) will be closed nightly for resurfacing works from Sunday 26 March at 7pm.
These works allow the completion of West Gate Tunnel Project roadworks at the Millers Road interchange and will result in new asphalt and line marking being installed. This will make for a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
The times of the closures are:
- Monday – Thursday nights, 9pm to 5am
- Friday, Saturday nights, 7pm to 7am
- Sunday nights, 7pm to 5am
Traffic impacts will be confirmed via our weekly traffic email but please feel free to get in touch with us if you have further questions.
Some construction noise may be noticeable as we profile and resurface the interchange, add line marking, install detector loops and carry out finishing works. Temporary traffic measures such as reflectors, spray painted lines and “no line marking” signage will be in place when the road re-opens after each night of works. This will be in place until we are able to complete the final linemarking of the area.
Cycling and pedestrian access will be maintained.
Cladding replacement on the Rosala Avenue cycling and walking overpass
Works to replace perforated cladding with solid panels of the same colour are scheduled to take place between late-March and early-May.
These works will take place on the ramps to the overpass where the temporary corflutes are installed currently and are to address noise concerns raised by the community during high winds.
The overpass remains open during works – however there may be some short delays for people crossing the bridge as they move past works areas / machinery, under the guidance of traffic controllers.
Works are underway at the Muir Street cycling and walking overpass for community members interested in what the change to the ramps will look like.
The start date will be confirmed via signage at the overpass. If you have further questions, please get in touch with us.

Thank you
We appreciate our work can be disruptive and thank you for your understanding, particularly during our recent summer roadworks where we were able to completely rebuild the Melbourne Road to West Gate Freeway outbound ramp and install new freeway drainage systems.
Works may be rescheduled in the event of unexpected impacts.
