Realigning the Wurundjeri Way intersection between Dudley Street and Collins Street and other works
The West Gate Tunnel Project has already started work on extending Wurundjeri Way over Dudley Street and building an extra lane each way between Dudley and Flinders Streets. Once complete, a new elevated bridge extending Wurundjeri Way over Dudley Street will connect to the new elevated Footscray Road and will link to Dynon Road, creating a CBD bypass that will remove through traffic from the CBD and provide greater connectivity between the north, city and western suburbs.
We need to undertake important works on Wurundjeri Way between Dudley Street and Collins Street to realign the intersection, install new traffic lights, relocate high voltage power cables, construct new drainage and pavement and begin the final foundation works for the new bridge ramps over Dudley Street. This will include the clearing and removal of vegetation in the centre median.
To carry out this work, there will be overnight closures of Wurundjeri Way and 24/7 lane closures.
Access to Marvel Stadium will be maintained. Start times of the closures will avoid events at Marvel Stadium.
Please note, this work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.
What to expect and when
Detour options are listed on the map overleaf and there will be VMS messaging and on-road signage to guide road users during the closures.
