Site establishment, foundation works and vegetation removal - Princes Freeway near Tyquin Street, Laverton

As part of the West Gate Tunnel Project, we need to install overhead gantry signs along the Princes Freeway and West Gate Freeway. As part of this, we need to complete foundation works for a new sign gantry on the Princes Freeway at Laverton.

When we’ll be working

We’ll be working overnight from Tuesday 19 March to Friday 22 March 2024.

What we’ll be doing

We’ll be completing works along the Princes Freeway shoulder adjacent to Tyquin Street, establishing a work site to construct the foundations for a new electronic overhead sign gantry.

Impacts and works

Works will include:

  • Site establishment along freeway shoulder
  • Removal of vegetation along freeway shoulder for site establishment
  • Gantry foundation work
  • Piling works
  • Trench digging to connect electronic gantry signage systems
  • Occasional overnight lane closures along the Princes Ffreeway.

Additional Information

  • All works will be taking place on the freeway side of the noise walls adjacent to Tyquin Street, Laverton.
  • Works will occur during the day, with minimal works taking place overnight. Residents will be notified if construction noise is higher than expected
  • Residents may notice worker vehicles in the area while a temporary site shed is stationed at the Laverton Swim and Fitness Center car park in Tyquin Street, Laverton.

Changes to the way you travel

While works are taking place, speeds along this section of the Princes Freeway will be reduced to 80km/h.

This work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.
