What’s happening?

The ramps from the M80 Ring Road to the West Gate Freeway will be closed from 9pm Friday 6 September to 5am Monday 23 September 2024

What we’ll be doing

We’ll be carrying out surfacing and construction activities on the ramps that connect the M80 Ring Road to the West Gate Freeway citybound.

Detours will be in place with additional measures as outlined below to avoid congestion. Business driveway access will be maintained.

Additional impacts

Vehicles travelling to the West Gate Freeway citybound will be detoured via Boundary Road, with the following traffic arrangements in place to reduce congestion:

• Plummer Road closed at Boundary Road with access maintained via Somerleigh Road and Leslie Road.
• There will be restricted movement at the intersection of Plummer Road, Spencer Street and Boundary Road. Please follow on-road signage.
• No access to the Boundary Road/Little Boundary Road roundabout heading westbound.
• No northbound access to Fairbairn Road via the roundabout from Little Boundary Road and no u-turn via the roundabout from Fairbairn Road.

Temporary traffic signals will also be positioned at the roundabout and the freeway exit ramp so traffic flows in both directions.

Noise

You may notice minor construction noise, including intermittent noise at night.

Depending on the type of works and if they’re expected to create extra noise, the West Gate Tunnel Project team will be in contact with residents and businesses directly.

Future traffic impacts

After these works, we’ll need to close the Williamstown Road inbound exit ramp for an extended period. We’ll provide further information about these works closer to the time.

Changes to the way you travel

Detours will be in place, please follow the on-road signs, check traffic media reports and drive carefully.
