The West Gate Tunnel Project is continuing construction on walking and cycling paths across the project. These works will include lifting veloway segments into their final position underneath the Footscray Road elevated roadway, installing signage, lighting and asphalting on Footscray Road. At the Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp, we are constructing a new bridge to connect the Fogarty Avenue walking and cycling path to the new Hyde Street inbound exit ramp.

To enable these works, there will be closures of Footscray Road and the West Gate Freeway Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp.

What we'll be doing

Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp

To construct the new walking and cycling path connecting the Fogarty Avenue walking and cycling path to the new path along the Hyde Street inbound exit ramp, we will need to close the Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp from:

• 9pm Tuesday 1 October to 5am Sunday 17 November 2024.

We will also be undertaking pavement works during this time.

Footscray Road, citybound carriageway

A full closure of Footscray Road citybound carriageway between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road is
required to install veloway segments from:

• 8pm Friday 11 October to 5am Thursday 31 October. Footscray Road, full closure in both directions.

Footscray Road will be closed in both directions between the CityLink and Pearl River Road overnight on:

• Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October, 8pm to 5am.

Future impacts

Further works will be required to complete works along the West Gate Freeway and Footscray Road post these closures. More information will be provided closer to these works.

Noise

You may notice minor construction noise, including intermittent noise at night. We will contact residents directly if works are expected to generate additional noise.

Changes to the way you travel

Detours will be in place, while ramps and roads are closed. Please follow the on-road signs, check traffic media reports, allow for extra travel time and drive carefully.
