Changes to the way you travel
Heavy vehicle operators
Please note that heavy vehicles have different route requirements from the light vehicle detour maps in this work notice and general vehicle detour route signage on roads including Whitehall Street, Dynon Road, Spencer Street and Dudley Street.
Please check your route options before you travel on relevant heavy vehicle network maps or contact us on 1800 105 105 and ask to speak to the East Zone to sign up for traffic email updates specific for heavy vehicle operators.
During this time, businesses on Footscray Road and Sims Street will continue to operate.Traffic management will be in place, including signage to guide traffic through the area.
Noise
You may notice construction noise and vibration, including intermittent noise and construction lighting at night. While the project aims to undertake noisier activities during the day, some works need to happen at night, outside of peak traffic conditions.
Depending on the type of works and if works are expected to create extra noise, the West Gate Tunnel Project team will be in contact with residents directly.
Information for cyclists
Between January and March, we’ll need overnight and continuous closures of the walking and cycling path between Shepherd Bridge and Pearl River Road. Please detour via the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail. Further detour information including maps for cyclists is available in our walking and cycling works notification at westgatetunnelproject.vic.gov.au or by visiting bigbuild.vic.gov.au/disruptions.
