When we’ll be working

From mid-June – late August 2025.

Day work hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm and Saturday, 7am to 1pm. Various night shifts will be scheduled between 8pm to 5am throughout June – August 2025.

What we'll be doing

As we approach project completion in late 2025, construction activities will continue along Harris Street and in the surrounding area.

Remaining works around the Harris Street walking and cycling path that will take place during June – late-July include:

  • Installing the final cladding pieces to the elevated walking and cycling path
  • Harris Street road resurfacing and line marking
  • Landscaping

Other works around the area include:

  • Reinstating the Yarraville Gardens Precinct area including the bluestone wall, pavement and other landscaping
  • Installing a new sewage line on the northern and southern side of Whitehall Street, near the Harris Street and Whitehall Street intersection
  • Asphalting on Harris Street Where works are expected to be particularly disruptive, the West Gate Tunnel Project team will be in touch before they begin.

Upcoming works

Harris Street

From mid-June – late-July 2025, the current overnight Harris Street site set up will change and we will close approximately eight car spaces 24/7 during Yarraville Gardens Precinct reinstatement and line marking works.

Throughout most of the works, Harris Street will remain open to traffic in both directions. However, between mid-June and August, short-term closures will be required during certain day and night works to safely complete construction activities on the road.

Whitehall Street

Whitehall Street northbound and southbound lane closures between Somerville Road and Youell Street will be required at various times between June and August to prepare and facilitate sewage line and road works. A section of the Whitehall Street shared walking and cycling path may be impacted at times.

Harris Street closures


Harris Street closed to through traffic and car parking during intermittent day and night works. Pedestrian access to local businesses will be maintained with the support of our traffic team.

Harris Street car park occupation

The current Harris Street site set up will change and an occupation of approximately 8 car spaces in Harris Street will be implemented 24/7. Throughout most the works, Harris Street will be open to traffic in both directions.

From 25 June - late July 2025

Whitehall Street works Occasional road and lane closures will be required:

– Overnight northbound parking lane and slow lane closures will occur overnight to facilitate installation of framing and cladding on the bridge and asphalting at the Harris Street and Whitehall Street


– Overnight closures of Whitehall Street in both directions will be required at various times Occasional short term shared walking and cycling path closures will be required:

– Northside and southside walking and cycling path near the Harris Street

Whitehall Street intersection closure required in the coming months to facilitate sewage line realignment works.
