What we'll be doing

As we prepare for the project opening in 2025, we need to conduct testing on the freeway management system which will ensure the West Gate Freeway, West Gate Tunnel and CityLink connections operate smoothly.

Lane use management system and commissioning works

We’ll be conducting testing on our overhead lane control signage along the West Gate Freeway, Princes Freeway and M80 southbound. As the devices are major traffic control devices, these have to be tested under full freeway closures.

Additionally, as we near completion of the project, our crews will be working to switch on new electronic devices such as cameras, overhead speed limit signage, messaging boards and lighting.

Impacts

In order to safely test, commission and install these devices, various lane, ramp and full freeway closures will be required at times.

We’ll notify of the specific dates and details of these closures via our weekly traffic alert.
