The brand-new West Tarneit Station is set to open on Sunday 13 September, providing more travel options for people in Melbourne’s fast-growing west.
When trains stop at the new station on the Geelong Line, passengers will have access to 2 platforms, an accessible pedestrian underpass, a 400-space car park, 4-bay bus interchange, and secure bicycle parking and bicycle hoops.
The new West Tarneit Station will ease pressure on nearby Tarneit Station, the busiest station on the regional network outside of Southern Cross Station, servicing close to 2 million passengers a year.
West Tarneit Station passengers will benefit from the addition of more 9-car VLocity peak services to Wyndham Vale, boosting capacity by 50%.
More than 1100 services will also be added to the local Tarneit bus network following the station’s opening next month.
A new Route 186 bus will operate daily services between Tarneit Station and West Tarneit Station via Dohertys Road, improving connections for communities north of the station.
For residents further south, the existing Route 182 from Tarneit Station to Werribee Station will run more frequently and will also travel via the new West Tarneit Station.
Following the opening, crews will continue landscaping works across the station precinct, which will feature more than 17,000 native trees, plants and grasses, seating, and separated walking and cycling pathways.
