A cycling parkiteer has landed at the site of the new West Tarneit Station, boosting accessibility when the station opens to passengers later this year.
The new station will make it easier for locals to access public transport and help to ease pressure on nearby Tarneit Station.
The parkiteer, which will have secure parking for 26 bikes, was delivered to the station in sections and assembled on site. The station precinct will also include 30 bike hoops, and new cycling paths connecting to existing and future cycling routes.
The station is being built near the corner of Davis and Leakes roads, with a new bus interchange and 400-space car park on the southern side of the rail line, accessible via Leakes Road and a new signalised intersection at Heartlands Boulevard.
When completed, the landscaped precinct will also feature seating options, and more than 17,000 native trees, plants, shrubs and grasses, including wattles, correas, bottlebrushes and flowering gum trees.
