Ballarat Station northern entrance reopens

Back to Newsfeed

The milestones at Ballarat Station keep coming, with passengers now using the recently-completed northern entrance, and crews fitting out the 2 lift shafts that will connect to the new pedestrian overpass.

Over the past several months, crews have been working to improve accessibility to the northern station entrance by building a new ramp and stairs, installing handrails and automatic swing doors, and landscaping the area with native plants.

These upgrades will make it easier and safer for all commuters to use the northern station entrance, connecting to other transport options such as the bus interchange and multi-deck car park.

Two giant lift shafts, each measuring 10 metres tall and weighing 9 tonnes, have also been delivered to site to enable crews to complete cladding ahead of their installation either side of the rail line later this year.

Lifts to each platform, as well as stairs, will provide access to the pedestrian overpass, which will be lifted into place at the eastern end of the station late this year.

The Ballarat Station Upgrade is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
