Crews are gearing up for more major works in Melton, with a 2 week construction blitz kicking off next week as part of works to remove 4 level crossings and build a brand new Melton Station.

Works are underway to build new rail bridges over Coburns Road and Exford roads, Melton, and construct road bridges over the rail line at Ferris Road, Melton and Hopkins Road, Truganina.

Coaches will replace trains on sections of the Ballarat Line from Saturday 24 May to Saturday 7 June as crews complete excavation, surface preparation, track works and line marking in the rail corridor.

This includes 24/7 works from 2.30am, Saturday 24 May to 4am, Tuesday 3 June.

A new roundabout will be built at the intersection of Hazel Street and Brooklyn Road and the entrance to the Melton Station Square Shopping Centre will be rebuilt to allow for future bus services in the area.

At Hopkins Road, Truganina, crews will undertake structural works in the rail corridor and non-destructive digging to locate underground services, while major construction will also ramp up at Ferris Road in Melton, with piling works in the rail corridor.

The new Melton Station will include 4 platforms and will be used to accommodate trains starting and terminating at Melton, as well as Ballarat services.

All 4 dangerous and congested level crossings will be gone for good, and the new station will open in 2026 – 2 years ahead of schedule.
