Branching out in Surrey Hills and Mont Albert

With trains running and the brand-new Union Station open, our team is turning its attention to finishing works around the station precinct.

We recently visited the trees and vegetation that will call Surrey Hills and Mont Albert home later this year. Our environmental specialist is pleased with the progress, noting plants are growing as expected.

As part of our planting, locals can look forward to seeing an array of leaves, flowers and greenery characteristic of species such as coral gums, honey myrtle and kangaroo grass.

Our team will have planted more than 52,000 trees, plants and shrubs in the local area by project completion.

The level crossings at Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert and Union Road, Surrey Hills were two of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested. The open rail trench design and new premium station eases congestion, improves safety, and allows for more train services, more often.
