Brunt Road closed to finish new road bridge

Back to Newsfeed

The dangerous and congested level crossing at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield will be gone for good one year ahead of schedule, with Brunt Road now closed to allow finishing works to safely take place.

Crews are working 24/7 until late April to lay 2400 tonnes of asphalt on the new road bridge that will separate cars and trains for good.

To allow work to be carried out safely, Brunt Road is closed between Edinburgh Drive/Pioneer Way and Rix Road, with detours in place for drivers and pedestrians.

When the road reopens, there will be a new footpath and shared use path across the new road bridge, providing a direct link to local schools, shops and services on either side of the rail line.

With the Brunt Road level crossing gone, the Pakenham Line will be one step closer to being level crossing-free by 2025 – improving journeys for the 8400 drivers passing through each day and allowing for more trains after the Metro Tunnel opens in 2025.
