Contract Award and Open Space Consultation for Coburg and Brunswick

Back to Newsfeed

The designs for the new elevated rail bridge and open space at Coburg and Brunswick have been released.

Elevating the rail line between Coburg and Moreland stations will unlock almost 2 MCGs worth of open space underneath the rail bridge, creating vibrant community places and stronger local connections.

While retaining the heritage-listed station buildings, brand-new Coburg and Moreland stations will be built. New station precincts will be surrounded by gardens, and also include sheltered waiting areas and direct connections to walking, cycling, public transport and parking options.

The Upfield Bike Path will be transformed underneath the elevated rail, with open space, gardens and recreation areas.

Extensive landscaping along the rail corridor will turn the area into a parkland for generations to come, with three times more trees planted beside the new rail bridge.

Construction will begin later this year and the project will be complete in 2021.
