Final designs have been released for the brand-new West Tarneit Station, as major construction to build the station gets underway.
The new station will open in 2026 and include 2 platforms, an accessible pedestrian underpass, a 400-space car park and a 4-bay bus interchange, making it easier and safer for commuters to connect to public transport options.
The surrounding precinct will feature a landscaped area equipped with seating, separated walking and cycling pathways either side of the rail line, secure bicycle storage and bicycle hoops.
The final designs were informed by feedback from the local community, who expressed a preference for an accessible, vibrant and colourfully-landscaped station precinct.
The underpass will be tiled in a range of bright green tones, which will be incorporated into other design features across the station and reflected in extensive landscaping comprising 17,000 native trees, plants, shrubs and grasses, including wattles, correas, bottlebrushes and flowering gum trees.
A 26 space Parkiteer will be located close to the main station entrance, and 30 bicycle hoops will be provided to support active transport options.
Access to the station will be via a new road from Leakes Road on the southern side of the station, with a signalised intersection being built at Heartlands Boulevard.
The new 4-bay bus interchange will service a new bus route for Tarneit north, travelling between West Tarneit Station and Tarneit Station, and the existing Route 182 will be re-aligned to also service the new station.
Locals can view the final designs and learn more about the new station at community information sessions being hosted by the project team this month.
Drop-in sessions will be held at Tarneit Community Learning Centre, 150 Sunset Views Boulevard, Tarneit, between 10am and noon on Saturday 13 September, and from 2.30pm to 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 September. Bookings are preferred but not essential.
