First look at your new road bridge

Designs have been released for the new road bridge at Station Street, Beaconsfield that will improve safety, reduce congestion and contribute to creating a level crossing-free Pakenham Line by 2025.

Removing the level crossing at Station Street, Beaconsfield by building a road bridge will mean the level crossing can be removed sooner and construction will be less disruptive for the vehicles that use the crossing each day.

When the road bridge opens and the boom gates are gone for good, locals will be able to move safely and easily around the area and passengers on the Pakenham Line will get where they need to go faster.

The construction of the new bridge requires us to acquire one property on Beaconsfield Avenue, known locally as the station master's house.

In good news for the community, most of the property and key historical elements will be retained, with the new bridge impacting only the extension at the rear of the house. The nearby Bunya Bunya Pine tree will also be retained.

Locals are now invited to provide feedback on the designs, including landscaping, colours and finishes on the road bridge. Have your say by visiting Engage Victoria by 11.59pm Sunday 23 April.

The feedback received in this round of consultation will help shape final designs.

Construction will start later this year.

When all 22 level crossings have been removed from the Pakenham Line by 2025, journeys will be faster and local roads safer, changing the way people live, work and travel.

The Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 110 level crossings by 2030, with 67 already gone for good.
