Commuters in Hallam will have faster and safer journeys when the Hallam Road level crossing is removed, and a new Hallam Station built.
The station designs revealed today have considered community feedback - with safer pedestrian access across Hallam Road a key priority for 96% of people who participated in community consultation.
Designs for the elevated rail line now feature platforms spanning Hallam Road, and station entrances with lifts and stairs on both sides of the road so commuters can catch the train without crossing busy Hallam Road.
The design features architectural screens that will turn the new station, used by 2200 people each day, into a local landmark. The new station will be built as part of the Hallam Road level crossing removal project.
Major works will start on the Hallam Road Level Crossing Removal Project at the end of 2020, with the level crossing to be removed in 2022.
