Victoria's Big Build Roadshow visits Pakenham and Berwick

Pakenham and Berwick locals can learn about transport projects happening in their neighbourhood when Victoria’s Big Build Roadshow passes through on Saturday 18 March.

Teams from the Level Crossing Removal Project and Major Road Projects Victoria will be at the Pakenham Show and the Casey Kids Carnival to help locals understand more about projects and disruptions in their area.

More than $28 billion is being invested in the south-east and outer south-east to make travel safer, easier and smoother.

In the Pakenham area, crews are on the ground working on level crossing removals at McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road, with new stations at Pakenham and Pakenham East. The Pakenham line will be level crossing free by 2025.

Likewise, at Camms Road, Cranbourne, level crossing removal works are ramping up with crews relocating local services to make way for the new road bridge. They are starting to build the foundations, abutment walls and overhead structure.

Major road upgrades are also underway in Melbourne’s outer south-east, with the Pakenham Roads Upgrade forging ahead. Early works for Stage 1 are underway and traffic changes are in place at the McGregor Road freeway interchange and the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup freeway interchange.

Stage 1 of the Pakenham Roads Upgrade will focus on improving access on and off the Princes Freeway at Healesville-Koo Wee Rup and McGregor roads and reducing bottlenecks for vehicles travelling on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road between Peet Street and Southeast Boulevard/Livestock Way. The project will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow and connectivity.

Along with level crossing removals and road upgrades, the Suburban Rail Loop, Melbourne Airport Rail and Metro Tunnel will significantly improve the way Melbournians in the south-east get around each day by reducing travel times, improving safety and reliability.

When Melbourne Airport Rail opens, Melbourne’s south-east will have a direct connection to the airport via the new Metro Tunnel and new Sunshine station.

Together, these road and rail improvements will boost safety and increase capacity for thousands of locals daily.

To learn more, visit the Big Build Roadshow at the Pakenham Show at P.B. Ronald Reserve, Henry and Johns Streets, Pakenham from 9am on Saturday 18 March or at the Casey Kids Carnival at The Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday 18 March.
