Foote Street

Major works to upgrade intersection

We'll take advantage of having fewer cars on the road and use the school holiday period to progress major construction. Major works to upgrade the Foote Street intersection will take place from 26 June to 7 August.

We'll extend turning lanes and optimise lane use to improve traffic flow through the intersection. These major works will be completed in 16 hour shifts daily from 6am to 10pm, providing respite through the night for nearby residents.

Foote Street will be closed at the intersection 24/7 with detours in place. North and south travel on Williamsons Road will remain open to traffic. Plan ahead. Expect 20 minute delays.

Porter Street

Completion works

Finishing works around the intersection will continue to complete asphalting, line-marking and signage installation. Traffic management will be in place to keep workers and road users safe.

Main Road

Completion works

Soil preparation is underway during winter for landscaping on road reserves to be completed during Spring. Architectural panels for the retaining wall will be lifted into place in the coming months. The final layer of asphalt will be laid during Spring when the weather improves.

The Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade

Fitzsimons Lane connects Eltham and Templestowe to neighbouring eastern and northern suburbs, as well as the Eastern Freeway, carrying more than 60,000 vehicles each day. Its upgrade will improve journey times, reduce congestion, enhance public transport reliability and keep cyclists and pedestrians safe from busy traffic at the intersection.

The Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade is on track to be completed by 2023.
