Town Hall Station's Swanston Street entrance is now open

Back to Newsfeed

The newest entrance to Town Hall Station is now open.

The new Swanston Street entrance, located next to Young & Jackson, gives passengers another direct and accessible way into the state-of-the-art station in the heart of the city. The entrance can also be accessed from Cocker and Scott alleys off Flinders Lane, making it easier to move through Melbourne’s busiest precinct.

This entrance will be open from 10am until the Big Switch on 1 February, when the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will run exclusively through the Metro Tunnel. From then the entrance will open from first service to last service daily.

From 1 February, Town Hall Station will be open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays for Night Network services.

From today, 29 January 2026, vehicles will no longer be able to access Cocker Alley to ensure pedestrian safety around Town Hall Station.

You can continue to access Cocker Alley on foot or with trolley equipment.

You can plan your journey via the Transport Victoria website.
