Community input helping to shape North East Link

Back to Newsfeed

North East Link has reached a major milestone with submissions on the Environment Effects Statement (EES) closing.

Just over 850 submissions were received – a solid response for a project the size and complexity of North East Link, and what we were hoping to see.

We’re particularly encouraged to see submissions on areas of the project that are among the most challenging, including many our team encouraged people to comment on.

The EES process is an important opportunity for communities to have their say and inform the independent committee and the Minister for Planning in assessment of the project.

A Directions Hearing will be held on Friday 21 June where the Inquiry and Advisory Committee will establish a timetable for the public hearings before they start on Thursday 25 July.

The panel will review the EES and public submissions received and make recommendations to the Minister for Planning in late 2019. Following planning approval, construction is set to start in early 2020.

The EES is available on our website and all submissions are available on the Planning Panels Victoria website.
