We're due to start night work which involves making noise from 8pm until early in the morning across various spots along the project corridor, including Yallambie, Watsonia, Viewbank, Macleod and Rosanna.
The work involves closing road lanes, using a loud saw to cut the road surface and having trucks running near homes. Ideally we'd do work like this during the day, however it's been scheduled at night because of constraints around the impact to traffic during busy peak times. Our work needs to be done now to confirm where services such as power, water and gas run so that when construction on NEL begins we don't waste time having to move services.
People will be door knocked in an area around the sites at least 2 days before any work begins. We will have our team on site to support any issues throughout the evening.
We'll do our best to keep the impact to those around the area to a minimum by;
- Using acoustic barriers next to the noise source
- Carrying out the noisiest activities as early as possible in the evening once traffic management is in place
- Making sure machinery is turned off when not in use
- Redirecting lights used on site away from homes
If you or anyone you know has any queries or issues about the work please call our 24 hour call centre on 1800 105 105.
