Hundreds of trees and thousands of native plants have been planted in Melbourne’s north and east, as part of our tree planting program.
To help us decide where some of the other 30,000 new trees could be planted next, we want to hear from you.
Well before major construction begins, over 200 trees and 2000 shrubs and plants have been planted at Belle Vue Primary School in Balwyn North and at Simpson Barracks in Yallambie.
Year 5 and 6 Belle Vue Primary School sustainability students cared for some of these young trees while learning remotely at home in Term 3 so they can be planted at the school.
Trees and care kits were delivered to the students by social enterprise, Ecodynamics nursery, and students
will watch their trees mature and grow among 200 others already planted at the school.
More than 30,000 trees will be planted along and near the North East Link Project, keeping them as close as possible to where they have been removed. The tree planting program will create more shade across local
suburbs, parks, walking and cycling paths, in nature reserves, and at local schools, with at least 2 trees planted for every 1 removed to build North East Link.
