Tree planting at Ford Park and Binnak Park as new sports upgrades progress

Back to Newsfeed

We're getting ready to plant trees and a variety of native plants at Ford Park, Bellfield and Binnak Park, Watsonia North as new sport upgrades take shape.

While some trees needed to be removed to build the new sports facilities, we've developed a landscape plan for each location to green the area, as we near the end of construction. We’ll plant a range of species including spotted gum, blackwood, yellow gum, maple and candlebark trees in the coming months. We’ll also be planting a variety of native plants and shrubs.

At Ford Park, works on new cricket practice nets have been completed ahead of schedule, allowing Bellfield Cricket Club to train in a fully enclosed space. Other community facilities will be completed soon and the new pavilion is taking shape. Work on the new car park and field lighting will continue in the coming months.

At Binnak Park, works on the new pavilion are continuing with structural beams now in place and roofing, internal fittings and windows to follow soon. New cricket practice nets are almost finished, and synthetic turf cricket pitches will be laid soon.

You can find out more about the upgrades on our sports facilities page.
