Construction has begun on the Ararat train stabling upgrade, to boost service frequency for Ararat passengers.
The project will double the capacity of the existing stabling, creating space for two three-carriage VLocity trains to be housed overnight at Ararat.
This means two trains can be in Ararat each weekday morning ready for the first two services to Melbourne, enabling an extra weekday service to Ararat to start in 2020.
The works will include building a new track parallel to the existing stabling track, security fencing, lighting, CCTV and footpaths for driver access. The project is being delivered by V/Line, and is scheduled for completion early 2020.
