Powering the Ballarat Line Upgrade

Back to Newsfeed

Bunjil Energy is helping to power the Ballarat Line Upgrade with renewable energy.

As part of Regional Rail Revival’s commitment to supporting local and Indigenous businesses during construction, Bunjil Energy have has rolled out solar panels across the line to generate power for station lighting, lifts and driver facilities.

The Victorian Aboriginal-owned and operated renewable energy company is providing and installing 69 solar panels at the brand new Cobblebank Station, the upgraded Wendouree Station and the new stabling facility at Maddingley.

The panels will generate more than 30,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and save around 20 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
With a vision for reconciliation through strategic business partnerships, Bunjil energy provides apprenticeships and employment opportunities for Aboriginal people.

Economic benefits for local, social and Aboriginal businesses are a key focus on the Ballarat Line Upgrade, and the wider Regional Rail Revival program as we continue to upgrade every regional passenger line in Victoria.
